Style Spotlight: Kate Middleton

Happy birthday to the Duchess of Cambridge! In honor of Kate Middleton hitting the big 3-0 today, we’re shining the style spotlight on her royally exquisite wardrobe, which we love for being understated and classy—just like the way she celebrated the milestone (a “low-key, quiet affair”—no raging into the early a.m. hours here).

Check out 10 of our favorite looks worn by Kate below!
The night before her birthday, Kate attended the UK premiere of War Horse, wearing lace Alice Temperley gown.
Kate at the Summerfield Community Centre showing her support of the riot victims in a pre-fall 2011 Alexander McQueen ensemble.
Wearing a lace Erdem dress, Kate attended the wreath laying ceremony at the National War Memorial on the first day of the Royal Couple’s North American Tour in Canada last June.

Kate recycles her wardrobe at the wedding of  England rugby player Mike Tindall and Zara Phillips in Scotland last July, accessorizing her cream Collette Dinnigan French lace dress and Day Birger et Mikkelsen brocade coat with a new bespoke hat by British milliner Gina Foster.
Kate’s no stranger to the art of airport style—here at Calgary, she opts for a sweet canary number by one of her favorite designers, Jenny Packham—and of course, her favorite LK Bennett Sledge2 pumps.
Kate pulls out all the stops at the BAFTA Brits To Watch event in L.A. last July, wearing a pleated lilac chiffon gown by Alexander McQueen and the Queen’s own earrings (sandals and clutch are both Jimmy Choo).
Here’s a wardrobe choice we rarely see on the Duchess—color! She played down the boldness of the Issa dress by accessorizing with a black purse and pumps.
For her day at the Investec Derby, Kate sported a chiffon dress by Reiss and a waffle jacket by Joseph paired with her LK Bennett pumps and a clutch also by LK Bennett.
Finishing their North American tour, the royal couple attended a polo match in aid of the American Friends of the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry in Santa Barbara. Here, Kate wears a lovely floral Jenny Packham dress.
And who can forget the blue Issa dress Kate wore at her engagement announcement?
